“I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening—a portal opening to emotional and genuine spiritual transformation.” - Peter Levine
Trauma Therapy
Trauma is a state of intense stress or threat that overwhelms an individual's capacity to cope and can result in a myriad of symptoms including anxiety, low mood, difficulty feeling joy or love, hypervigilance, difficulty focusing or concentrating, intrusive thoughts, negative beliefs about oneself and the world around them, difficulty with sleep, physical health concerns.
Trauma can happen to anyone. Therapy can help by providing practical skills to regulate the nervous system, understanding and befriending the adaptive strategies your body and mind created to get you through difficult times, and ultimately healing the wounds that the trauma left behind. Modalities like EMDR, Brainspotting, and IFS are effective, evidenced based treatments. Click here to learn more.
